  1. Mind-Map - Create a concept-map using Padlet, Mindmup or any other similar mind-mapping tool (or create a sketchnote by hand!) to unpack and brainstorm the statement of inquiry for this unit: 
Globalisation encourages greater interdependence amongst states, which can lead to new forms of positive and negative interaction

  1. ​Recall - Now fill in your mind-map with key real world examples and facts about the main concepts and ideas of the topic. Be sure to include details and examples of the following forms of cooperation/conflict to illustrate:

    3. Conflict - Interstate vs Intrastate, Modern Conflicts, Post-Modern Conflicts (Syrian Civil War), Terrorism: Insurrectionary, Loner, Nationalist, Global, New Terrorism, Counter-Terrorism (IRA, Al Qaeda)

Activity 4 - Do global interactions work?


Activity Tasks
  1. Reflect - Examine the statement of inquiry for the unit again. With a partner, brainstorm how each of the following theoretical foundations might interpret the statement of inquiry: realism, liberalism, critical 
  2. Discuss - Can global interactions improve the world? Take a minute to review your ideas, before discussing with the class.
  3. Revise - Using this Lesson Presentation and your revision notes so far, revise for a Paper 1 test on the topic of global interactions. 
  4. Essay Plan - Try practicing for your Paper 1 test by essay planning previous questions on this topic. Use the essay mark-scheme to help:
    1. Evaluate the effectiveness of collective security in responding to threats from state and non-state actors - May 2019
    2. To what extent do you agree with the claim that economic cooperation hinders state sovereignty? - November 2018
    3. Examine the claim that economically powerful states are able to manipulate global governance institutions to their advantage - May 2017
